How to Add an E-mail Link to a Web Page

An email link allows visitors to send you email. You can use text or images to represent the link.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Basic text editing program
  1. Step 1

    Open a text editing program, such as Notepad or EditPad. Locate the file and open it.

  2. Step 2

    Place the cursor where the link will appear.

  3. Step 3

    Type the following, replacing "me@me.com" with the email address:

    For a text link: Type the text that will appear as the link. You can use the email address or a phrase such as 'Email Me!'

  5. Step 5

    For an image link: Type the following, replacing 'image.jpg' with the name of the image to be used:

    Close the tag by typing . Your link should like one of the following: 'Email Me!' OR ''.

  7. Step 7

    Save the file and open a Web browser.

  8. Step 8

    Select Open from the Web browser's file menu and locate the page. Double click or select Open to view the page.

  9. Step 9

    Connect to the Internet and click on the link. If it does not work or takes you to the wrong page, verify the address is correct.

  10. Step 10

    Upload your page to your website and check the link again.

Tips & Warnings
  • There are hundreds of free web graphics and animations for email links. Type 'free web graphics' or 'free web animation' into a search engine.
  • Obtain permission before using any unlicensed or copyrighted clipart.
  • Do not use images from another web page without permission from the owner of the site.
