How to Block Junk Mail on Yahoo!

Enable your junk mail filter in Yahoo! to stop receiving spam.

Spam, or junk email, in your inbox can become annoying fast, especially when it takes a long time to browse through all the junk email looking for legitimate email. Yahoo! uses a simple spam-blocking option and email address blocking system to combat junk mail. All the blocked email is filtered into a "Spam" folder for you to view or delete later. If any email you want accidentally goes into the "Spam" folder, you can designate it as "not spam" to remove it from the filter.

Instructions

1. Open your web browser and navigate to the Yahoo! home page (see Resources).

2. Click "Yahoo! Mail" on the left side of the screen.

3. Log in to your email account.

4. Click "Options" toward the top right corner of the window, then select "Mail Options" from the drop-down menu that appears.

5. Click "Spam" on the left task pane. Here you can turn on the junk mail filter and add email addresses to block.

6. Click "Save Changes" when you are done.
