All PCs running any type of Windows Vista can download iTunes.

Apple designed its iTunes software as a multimedia platform through which you can download and play music, movies and Internet radio, as well as manage the contents of Apple's iPod portable media devices. Apple offers the software as a free download to all Mac and PC users. The software is compatible with Windows XP SP2 or more recent versions of Windows, including all editions of Windows Vista.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch a new Internet browser window.

    • 2

Go to Apple's iTunes download page (see link in References below).

    • 3

Push the blue "Download" button on the left side of the page. The iTunes software will automatically begin downloading to your PC.

    • 4

Double-click the downloaded file to launch iTunes' automated installation process. Complete the on-screen prompts to confirm that you wish to install the program.

Tips & Warnings

  • The iTunes software will typically operate faster on the 64-bit version of Windows Vista Home Basic than on the 32-bit version, but it will function sufficiently on either edition. To determine what version of Windows Vista Home Basic your computer is running, click "Start" in the lower left corner. Select "Control Panel." Click "System and Maintenance," then press "System" in the resulting window to view the version of Windows you have.
