How to Clean a Tea Kettle With Vinegar

Lemon juice can be used as a substitute for vinegar.

Vinegar is a great natural cleaning agent. Because of its acidic nature, vinegar dissolves the lime deposits commonly found in tea kettles. Cleaning a tea kettle with vinegar is very simple and will require only minutes.

Things You'll Need

• Measuring cup
• Sponge

Instructions

1. Fill the tea kettle 1/2 full with water.

2. Add at least 1/4 cup of vinegar to the water. You may add more vinegar if your kettle has not been cleaned recently or if there is significant lime deposit buildup.

3. Boil the water mixture for several minutes or until the lime deposits have dissolved.

4. Pour the water mixture out of the tea kettle and wipe the inside with a wet sponge.

Tips & Warnings

• Instead of boiling the water mixture, you can let the water and vinegar sit in the kettle overnight and pour it out the next day.
