1
Find materials that will work well for a daisy floor pillow. Find two different colors of material for the flower center and the petals. Look for sturdy upholstery fabrics that will hold up well to floor use. Think about the type of stuffing that might work best for a floor pillow. Using a natural fibers like cotton will lend firmness, and even a natural resistance to insects, while a synthetic like polyurethane holds shape longer than natural fibers, but is more flammable and can't be washed. Check out the feel and read the care instructions of various fibers to find one that fits your needs.

Create a pattern for your daisy floor pillow. Draw a perfect circle on a piece of newsprint two feet in diameter. Measure around the circumference of the circle and mark the edge to delineate eight equal sections. Measure the width of one of the eight sections to calculate the correct width for the bottom of the daisy petals. The petal base should be equal to the width of the measured section, with an added inch for a seam allowance. Draw a half circle with a base of that width on another piece of newsprint. Cut out the pattern pieces with scissors.

Use straight pins to secure the pattern pieces to their corresponding fabrics, and cut out the pattern. Continue pinning and cutting until you have two circular flower centers and 16 petal shaped pieces of fabric. Construct the daisy petals first. Pin the first two pieces of fabric together so that the outside of the fabric pieces are facing inward. Sew the pieces together around the curve of the half circle on the sewing machine, leaving the flat side open. Repeat the process with the rest of your pieces until you have eight open-ended half circles that look like pockets.

Turn the petals inside out and stuff each petal pocket with fiber stuffing. Pin the open ends together and run a straight seam across the bottom of each petal. Lay one of the center circle pieces of fabric face down and lay the flat edges of the stuffed petals evenly around the circumference of the circle, pinning them in place. Run a seam around the circumference of the circle to secure the petals. Place the second center circle face up on top of the piece with the secured petals. Sew a partial seam around the circle, leaving a five-inch opening between the seam edges. Use the opening to fill the center of the daisy with stuffing before completing the seam.
