How to Wrap Christmas Presents With Ribbon
Ribbon and wrapping paper add to the excitement of opening a Christmas gift. It is important to take accurate measurement before cutting the ribbon and wrapping paper so that you have enough for the gift. Scissors, tape and a ruler are the basic supplies necessary to create a well-wrapped gift.

1
Measure the width of the box and add 2 inches for allowance. Cut wrapping paper that is at least twice this measurement. For instance, if the box is 15 inches wide, cut wrapping paper that is about 34 inches long.
-
2
Place the wrapping paper on a flat surface with the decorated side down. Place the box on top of the paper, upside down and centered.
-
-
3
Bring one long edge of the wrapping paper up to the top of the box. Use about two strips of masking tape to tape it to the center of the surface.
-
4
Fold about 1 inch of the opposite long edge of the wrapping paper. Bring this folded edge to the top of the box and let it overlap the taped edge. Ensure that the wrapping paper is snug against the box then tape the folded edge down.
-
5
Fold the short sides. On one short side of the box, bring two opposite sides of wrapping paper to the middle of the surface and tape them down. You should be left with two triangle-shaped pieces of wrapping paper sticking out on opposite sides. Trim the ends of each one so that they are just long enough to meet in the middle. Fold each triangle-shaped paper down to the middle of the surface and tape it down. Repeat this step for the other end of the box.
-
6
Cut a piece of ribbon that is at least twice the area of the box and include enough allowance to make a bow. For instance, if the box has an area of 16 inches (4 inches by 4 inches), then cut a ribbon that is about 40 inches long, leaving 8 inches for a bow.
-
7
Place the ribbon on a flat surface and put the wrapped box on top. It should be centered and upside down.
-
8
Bring the ribbon up two opposite sides of the box to the center of the top of the box. Note that this is actually the bottom of the box since the box is upside down. Twist the ribbon around itself, once.
-
9
Turn the box right side up. Take the ribbon up the other two sides of the box to the center of the top of the box. Tie two knots to secure the ribbon then make a bow.
