How to Add a Site to Free Ministry Search Engines

Add your ministry website to search engines for free.

There is a saying that "If your build it, they will come." However, when the project you are building happens to be a ministry website, that phrase no longer rings true. You can build the best website in the world, but if your site is not submitted to search engines, the chances of people coming to your site are slim. You do not have to pay money to submit your website to the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing. Once you have submitted your ministry site to the major engines, you can submit it to the smaller ones as well.

Instructions

Google

1. Visit the Google homepage (www.google.com). Click on the "About Google" link that is located at the bottom of the page.

2. Locate the "For Site Owners" section. Click on the link labeled "Submit Your Content To Google."

3. Look under the "Web" section. Click on the "Add Your URL" link.

4. Enter the website address for your ministry into the "URL" box.

5. Type keywords for your ministry website into the "Comments" box. The keywords are words that can help someone find your ministry website site.

6. Type the verification letters into the box that is located beneath the letters.

7. Click the "Add URL" button to submit your website.

Yahoo

1. Visit the Yahoo Search page (http://search.yahoo.com). Click the "Submit Your Site" link that is located underneath the search bar.

2. Select the option to "Submit Your Site For Free."

3. Click the link labeled "Submit a Website or Webpage."

4. Enter the website address for your ministry.

5. Click the "Submit URL" button. You will then be prompted to enter your Yahoo ID and password to complete the submission. If you don't have a Yahoo ID, click the "Sign Up" link that is located underneath the log-in box.

Bing

1. Visit the Bing "Webmaster Center" (http://www.bing.com/webmaster). Locate the "Drive More Traffic" section towards the bottom of the page.

2. Click on the link that is labeled "Submit Your Site's URL."

3. Type the authentication letters into the "Characters" box.

4. Type the web address for your ministry website into the box labeled "Type The URL Of Your Homepage."

5. Click the "Submit URL" button to submit your website.

Other Search Engines

1. Visit a website such as Submit Express, Free Website Submission, and Submit Solution.

2. Click on the "Free URL Submission" link. The wording may slightly vary by site.

3. Enter the URL for your ministry website. You may also be asked for additional information, such as your email address and keywords for your site.

4. Click the "Submit" or "Add" button to submit your address.
