How to Download Movies to ARCHOS
ARCHOS produces a line of versatile personal entertainment devices with the ability to store and play back music, photos and videos. Considering the devices' large hard drives, this means you can take your entire media library with you on the go, assuming you know how to transfer it. Fortunately, downloading and adding videos to your ARCHOS player is a simple process, even for the technically challenged. And depending on the length of the movie you hope to transfer, it may only take a few minutes.

1
Navigate to a Web site with a video that you'd like to download. It's important the video is contained behind a download link, as streaming videos are not easily downloadable. Also keep in mind that certain videos from sites like YouTube do not have download links.
-
2
Right click on the download link and hit "Save file as..." (in Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox) or "Download linked file as..." (in Apple Safari). This will initiate a download prompt.
-
-
3
Select a readily accessible place on your hard drive to save the file.
-
4
Using the USB cord, attach the ARCHOS device to your computer. If a prompt pops up, select "Connect as hard drive."
-
5
Navigate to the ARCHOS device. Since ARCHOS formats its devices to be plug-and-play, this will be readable as an external hard drive on your system.
-
6
Open the ARCHOSE video folder, which contains your previously transferred videos. Drag and drop your downloaded video into the video folder.

Tips & Warnings
ARCHOS devices support many video codecs, but if you're having problems with playback, try converting to a common file type like AVI.
Some older versions of ARCHOS devices may only be USB 1.0 compatible. In this case, expect slower transfer speeds.
Some videos may be too large to add to the device. Either compress the video or consider finding a download at a lower resolution.
Videos with copy protection may transfer successfully to the device, but your ARCHOS will be unable to initiate playback. This is a problem with the file, not with your device.
For lengthy transfers, connect your ARCHOS device to a power source to ensure a successful completion.
