How to Turn off Safe Mode in Firefox

The Firefox Web browser has a Safe Mode feature which is handy when you need to troubleshoot problems within Firefox. When in Safe Mode, you can tweak the settings as much as you want, but any changes made automatically reset once you open Firefox in its normal mode. Once you are finished with Safe Mode, you must exit it to get back to normal Firefox. This can generally be done with two or three clicks of the mouse, but it occasionally takes a little more work.

  • Open the File menu and click on "Exit" to completely close Firefox. If you use Windows, you can simply click the "X" in the top right corner of the Firefox window.

  • Locate Firefox and open it. There may be two versions of Firefox on your computer, so make sure the one you choose does not say "Safe Mode" in parenthesis.

  • Restart your computer if Firefox still has not come out of Safe Mode. Firefox will be forced out of Safe Mode when the system shuts down.
