Instructions

    • 1

Clean up any pet wastes on the vinyl floors. Wear gloves to protect yourself from harmful bacteria. Use paper towels to remove any feces and soak up any excess urine.

    • 2

Use a broom to sweep the area free of dirt. Removing dirt from the stained area will ensure that you have direct access to the stain without any obstructions.

    • 3

Pour 1 cup of vinegar into a 1 gallon-bucket. Add 2 tsp. of liquid dishwashing detergent, and then fill the bucket with warm water. Use a long spoon to stir the ingredients carefully, taking care not to create too many suds.

    • 4

Dip a soft bristle brush into the solution and scrub the stain. Rinse the area with clean water. If the stain appears stubborn, use the more vigorous approach described in step 5.

    • 5

Mix together equal amounts of water and baking soda. This will form a paste. Spread the paste over the pet stain, and then allow it to set for 10 to 15 minutes. Scrub the area with an abrasive sponge. Wipe the area clean with a dry cloth, and then scrub the area with a cloth soaked with rubbing alcohol.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your pet continues to defecate or urinate on your vinyl floor, consult your veterinarian for advice on how to resolve the issue.

  • Do not mix bleach and vinegar together. If you need to use bleach on your vinyl floors, dilute it and do not add vinegar because it produces a chlorine gas.
