How to Stop Pop-Up Ads Using the Google Toolbar thumbnail
Excessive pop-up ads can cause you to shut down your computer.

The Google toolbar is an optional browser application for Firefox and Internet Explorer (IE), which provides internet users with advanced tools such as a pop-up blocker and a spell checker. Some features in Google toolbar are only available in either Firefox or Internet Explorer. One such example is the pop-up blocker. As of April 2010, the pop-up blocker feature is only available in the Internet Explorer version of Google toolbar. If you have downloaded the toolbar and you would like to block pop-up ads, doing so is not difficult.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on the wrench icon on the toolbar and then choose the "Tools" tab.

    • 2

Select the "Pop-up Blocker" check box to enable the pop-up blocker.

    • 3

Click on "Save" to apply the changes. The pop-up blocker is now enabled to block all pop-ups in your browser, including pop-up ads.
