How to Make Face Cloth Pillows

How to Make Face Cloth Pillows thumbnail
Use face cloths to make colorful little pillows.

Face cloths--those small, square towels intended for bathing--come in lots of fun designs that make cute little throw pillows to decorate a child's room, playroom or as funky couch accessories. This is an appropriate project for the beginner; once you know how to sew a face-cloth pillow, you can make pillows out of any kind of fabric in all different sizes.

These little pillows can be either sewn with a sewing machine or hand sewn, though this will take longer.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay face cloths so that the backs are facing out, and printed sides face each other, if applicable. If cloths are solid, the side with the tags should be facing out.

    • 2

Pin together so the face cloths are flush with each other.

    • 3

Sew around the edges, leaving an opening of about 3 inches. Remove pins.

    • 4

Reach into the opening and pull the pillow right side out.

    • 5

Stuff pillow fill through the opening until it has the firmness you want. Don't make it too loose, or it will go flat quickly.

    • 6

Fold the edges of the opening together and pin. Sew the opening shut with needle and thread. Remove pins to finish.

Tips & Warnings

  • Embellish with buttons, strips of fabric, flower appliques or other trim to personalize your pillow.
