How to Crochet a Bear Hat
Whether your little bear cub is just coming out of hibernation, or settling down for a long snooze, crochet up a little bear hat to keep him or her warm. These adorable bear caps also make great baby presents.
Things You'll Need
- 1 skein brown yarn (or color of your choice)
- 1 skein contrasting color (pink or yellow works nice)
- Size 5 crochet hook
- Size 4 crochet hook
- Blunt sewing needle
Instructions

Making the Hat

Chain two, crochet six single crochets in second chain from hook.

Crochet two single crochets in each stitch for a total of 12 single crochets.

Crochet two single crochets in every other single crochet stitch for a total of 18 single crochets.

Continue this way adding six additional single crochet stitches in each row until you have 48 stitches around.

Crochet one single crochet into each of the 48 stitches for as many rounds as you need until the hat reaches the size desired. Finish off and weave in ends.
Make the Ears

Chain two, crochet six single crochets in second chain from hook. (This can be done in the contrasting color if desired).

Crochet two single crochets in each stitch for a total of 12 single crochet stitches. If using contrasting color, finish off and weave in ends.

Join the main color (or continue if not using contrasting shade) and single crochet two stitches in every other single crochet stitch for a total of 18 single crochets.

Crochet one single crochet in each stitch around. Finish off and weave in ends.

Sew ears onto hat using blunt needle and the same thread as you used to crochet the hat.
