How to Connect an Alltel Internet Router to a Laptop

Though Alltel is not a full fledged Internet service provider like Comcast or Verizon, you can still use Alltel to provide basic broadband Internet access to your home or office. If you also purchase an Internet router through Alltel, it will be of the wireless variety. This means that if you want to connect your Alltel Internet router to your laptop computer, you will need to go through your operating system's wireless networking tools.

Instructions

    • 1

Click one time on the "Wireless Networking Connection" icon in the system tray of your computer. Some operating systems may also call this the "Connect to a Network" icon. Clicking on it will expand it into a listing of any wireless network your laptop computer is within the range of, including the one being broadcast by your Alltel Internet router.

    • 2

Click on the name of the wireless network that is being broadcast by your Alltel Internet router. This will be the name that you gave your network when you initially installed your router.

    • 3

Click on the "Connect" button. Your laptop computer's internal wireless equipment will dial into the network that is being broadcast by your Alltel Internet router and connect to it.

    • 4

Enter the password for your Alltel Internet router network (if applicable). If you assigned a password to your network when you initially set up the router, type that password in and then click "Connect" again.
