Use clear pricing on your yard sale price tags.

If you want to have a yard sale, an easy way to operate your sale is to put a price tag on everything in advance. This way you won't have to make your customers ask you for the price on any items, and you don't have to try to remember how much you wanted to sell something for in the first place. Make homemade yard sale price tags that help you keep track of the items you sell; this is especially useful if you are dividing the profits between more than one person or family.

Instructions

    • 1

Use a word processing program on your computer to set up a document that has four columns.

    • 2

Type the words Name, Item and Price on three separate lines in the first column, leaving space to write in an answer after each one. Copy these lines and paste them onto the rest of the document, leaving one or two lines between each one for cutting space.

    • 3

Print off your labels and cut them apart. As you price an item for the yard sale, fill out a price tag for it. Use the "Name" field to indicate the member of your family who is selling the item. If you're participating in a multi-family yard sale you might just indicate the last name of the family who contributed the item. In the "Item" field, give a brief description of the item, such as "book" or "clothing." This will help you after the yard sale because you will be able to easily categorize the best-selling items at the sale. In the "Price" field list the cost of the item.

Tape a price tag to each item you plan to sell. When the customer buys the item, remove the tag and save it. When the yard sale is over you can see how many items you sold, how much money you made and, if necessary, you can see how many items individual people or families sold so you can divide the profits accordingly.
