How to Get Rid of Skunk Odor in Your Home
Skunks carry sulfurous chemicals in their anal glands. When they feel threatened, skunks will spray the chemicals out. The smell is incredibly strong, and a tomato juice bath will remove it from human skin. Use a more gentle solution to rid a house of a skunk's odor. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 1 quart hydrogen peroxide
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 1 quart white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon dish washing liquid soap
- Fabric deodorizer

Mix 1 quart of hydrogen peroxide with 1/4 cup baking soda until it becomes a paste. Use the paste as a soap on any person that was sprayed by the skunk. After rubbing the paste into the skin, wash it off.

Mix 1 quart of white vinegar with 1/4 cup baking soda. Add 1 tsp. liquid dish washing soap to the mixture, and wash any sprayed clothes with this liquid.

Spray down carpets, rugs and furniture with a fabric deodorizer that is safe for all fabrics. Repeat this every day until the smell dissipates.
