How to Make Stamps on DeviantArt
The "stamps" collected and created by users on the website community "deviantArt" are small web graphics that are, in fact, shaped just like stamps. They are a bit like bumper stickers because they are made to either make a statement or portray a specific interest or hobby the collector enjoys. The stamps are displayed on the deviantArt user's profile page. There are dA users that will dedicate themselves to making these stamps for others, but you can learn to make them yourself and you don't even need expensive graphic editing software.

1
Open a graphic editing program such as Adobe Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro. You will need to be able to create transparent backgrounds, so Microsoft Paint will not be sufficient. If you don't have a program like this, go to the link in Resource 1 to download a free program that will allow you to create a graphic with a transparent background.
-
2
Download a template for your stamp by right clicking on your chosen template and selecting "Save images as". You can also just copy and paste the template directly into your graphic editing program as a new image, but you should save it blank if you plan on making more than one. Use your rectangle selection tool and select the inside of the stamp (the solid square or rectangle inside the border) and copy it. Paste the solid shape into your program as a new image.

Download a free stock image or public domain image to use if you want a picture, or use one that you've taken yourself. Crop or resize the image down to the size of your rectangle or square that you cut out. Copy and paste the image onto the shape and position it the way you want it. You can also just use a solid color for the background if you want.

Click on the text tool in your program, choose a font to use and resize the font to 9pt. Type out your text and make sure it stays inside of the shape. Adjust the size of the font if you need to. Make sure the font shows up by choosing a color that contrasts the background. The step to add text is optional.
-
5
Save the stamp when you are finished. Give it a name that you can easily identify it with and give it the file extension .PNG or .GIF--both of these file extensions allows transparency and will upload to the Internet. Now you can upload the stamp to a free image hosting site or to your deviantArt account if you have one.
