Keep it clean. Clean your monitor regularly so it stays shiny and neat.

Sceptre LCD computer monitors, like all things, collect dust. But you can't just go scrubbing your monitor clean like you would a bathroom sink or lawnmower. LCD computer monitors are delicate and require special care when cleaning. Unless you're gentle and use the right methods, you could scratch the screen or even damage the monitor. Fortunately cleaning Sceptre LCD monitors is easy and only takes a few minutes.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Power off your Sceptre LCD monitor and unplug it from the wall. Disconnect any video or sound cables from the monitor.

    • 2

Wipe the body of the monitor using a damp, soft cloth. If the cloth is too wet, it could drip into any of the monitor's vents or openings, permanently damaging the screen. Remember: it should only be slightly wet.

    • 3

Dry the body of the monitor using a soft cloth. Make sure it's completely dry.

    • 4

Apply some ammonia-free glass cleaner to a soft, nonabrasive cloth and gently wipe the screen, taking care to apply as little pressure as possible. (You don't want to scratch the screen.) Press very, very lightly, moving from left to right or from top to bottom. Moving in a circular motion could scratch the screen.

    • 5

Dry the screen completely using a soft, nonabrasive cloth, using as little pressure as possible. Make sure it is completely dry to prevent streaking.

    • 6

Reconnect your monitor after it is completely clean and dry.

Tips & Warnings

  • Special products are made especially for cleaning LCD monitors. Though costly, they're designed not to scratch the screen or damage the plastic.

  • Never use tap or mineral water to clean your screen. When they dry, they tend to leave watermarks that are unsightly and smudge up the display.

  • Don't touch the LCD display with your hands or fingers. This could permanently damage the screen.

  • Never use products containing strong cleaning agents like methyl chloride, toluene, ammonia, acetone, ethyl acid, or anything alcohol-based. These chemicals are harsh and wear away at the delicate layers that compose the screens of most electronics.
