Finding the Windows XP clipboard

The copy and paste folder in Windows XP is known as the "clipboard." The clipboard is a temporary memory file that holds the information you want to transfer or duplicate. Every time you copy or cut anything in Windows XP, that information is automatically sent to the Windows clipboard. Once something has been sent to the clipboard, the "paste" command can be used to insert the information held in the clipboard to whatever area is designated by the position of your cursor. All Windows applications have access to the clipboard; therefore, you can copy and paste across different applications.

Instructions

  1. Adding a Shortcut on the Desktop

    • 1

      Go to your Windows desktop.

    • 2

Right-click anywhere on the desktop not already occupied by a desktop icon. This will bring up a menu of options.

Tips & Warnings

  • The "Office clipboard" is different from the Windows clipboard. The Office clipboard can only be used with Microsoft Office applications such as MS Word and MS Excel. To view the Microsoft Office clipboard, open one of the Microsoft Office applications. Go to "Edit" in the menu and click on "Office clipboard." The Office clipboard can temporarily store up to 24 cut or copied items. To paste any of the items held in your Office clipboard, place your cursor in the spot where you want the information to be pasted. Then, from the Office clipboard, click on the item you want to paste and it will be inserted in that spot.
