How to Dress Up a Toilet as a Monster

How to Dress Up a Toilet as a Monster thumbnail
Add a festive flair to your bathroom by dressing up your toilet like a monster.

Decorate your entire house---including your bathroom---with child-friendly monsters for your next "scary" party. Even if you don't know how to sew, you can turn your toilet into a silly monster with some self-adhesive paper. Go for a whimsical look to avoid frightening younger children and possibly stunting potty training with others. Playing dress-up with your toilet is a fun way to teach children how to use their imagination while decorating a room normally neglected at party time. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Wash the exterior of the toilet with a vinegar and water solution. Dry it thoroughly with a rag.

    • 2

Apply fluorescent orange self-adhesive paper to the tank and lid of the toilet.

    • 3

Cut nine 3-inch ovals from white self-adhesive paper. Cut nine 1.5-inch circles from black self-adhesive paper. The black circles are pupils, so place one on each oval. Put one eye on each side of the toilet tank and scatter the remainder of them randomly on the front of the toilet. Cut 27 skinny crescent shapes (approximately 2 inches long) from the black paper for eyelashes. Add them to each of the eyes.

    • 4

Cut a crescent shape, 6 inches wide, from green self-adhesive paper for the mouth. Place it on the lid of the toilet. Cut a slightly smaller crescent from the black paper and stick it to the green paper. Cut a narrow "U" shape out of purple self-adhesive paper; this is the tongue. Cut several 1/2-inch circles from yellow self-adhesive paper and stick them on the tongue. Place the tongue on the toilet lid.

    • 5

Twist four pipe cleaners together and insert them into a glittery plastic foam ball to form an antenna. Repeat the process eight times. Tape two of the antennas to each side of the toilet tank and the remainder along the front of the tank.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use stickers that look like monsters as inspiration to your toilet creature.

  • Wrapping the toilet with adhesive paper (and later removing it) can be difficult and time-consuming.
