How to Make a Father's Day Pop-Up Card

Make a one-of-a-kind card for a special father.

Father's Day is a special day for children and dads alike. Make the day even more memorable by helping a child construct a Father's Day card for that amazing daddy in her life. Construct and personalize a pop-up card with a little adult assistance. You can find all of the materials required for this project at most craft stores---and your kitchen's junk drawer.

Things You'll Need

• 3 sheets construction paper
• 1 sheet yellow construction paper
• Pencil
• Scissors
• Felt pen
• Star stickers
• Ruler
• Glue

Instructions

1. Fold a piece of construction paper in half to create a card.

2. Draw the shape of a crown onto a piece of yellow construction paper. The crown should be small enough to fit inside the card. Cut out the crown, and decorate with star stickers. Write the words "King (dad's name)" on it as well with a felt-tip pen.

3. Measure 2 inches in from each end of the crease, and make a dot. Draw a 1-inch line out from each of these dots. Cut the line out with a pair of scissors.

4. Open the card, pull the cut-out section into the card and create a crease. This will form the pop up base for the crown.

5. Cover the outside of the entire card with another piece of construction paper of your choosing. Glue the two pieces together. Allow the glue to dry.

6. Glue the back of the crown to the front of the creased pop-up inside the card. Allow the glue to dry.

7. Cut out a piece a 4-inch-long-by-2-inch-wide piece of construction paper, and fold it in half horizontally.

8. Draw a Father's Day message on one side. Glue the other side onto the inside of the card.
