How to Make an Air Pressure Blow Dart Gun
Blow dart guns are simple to make because their power source usually comes from someone blowing into them. You can make a blow dart gun that will fire a dart a greater distance by using air pressure more effectively. You will need a few common household items as well as tools, and a building block from a hobby store. You will also make the dart that your air pressure blow dart gun will fire.
Things You'll Need
- Paper
- Scissors
- Cotton swab
- Disposable plastic pen
- Sewing needle
- Pliers
- Flat-edged jeweler's screwdriver
- 1/8th-inch diameter building block tube
- Bonding glue

Hold the disposable plastic pen in your left hand. Place the jaws of the pliers around the seam at the middle of the disposable plastic pen. Twist the pliers to separate the two halves of the disposable plastic pen.

Pull off the end cap from the back half of the disposable plastic pen with the pliers. Pull off the metal point from the front half of the disposable plastic pen with the pliers.

Remove the ink cartridge from inside of the front half of the disposable plastic pen with your fingers.

Screw the disposable plastic pen back together. Apply bonding glue to the seam. Let the bonding glue set for a day.

Cut off the cotton tip from each end of the cotton swab using the scissors.

Tear off a corner from the piece of paper with your hands. Wad the corner up into a ball. Insert the point of the sewing needle about halfway through the wadded up ball of paper.

Place one end of the cotton swab stick over the point of the sewing needle. Push the cotton swab stick onto the sewing needle so that it lies up against the wadded up ball of paper.

Insert the wadded up ball of paper, cotton swab stick first, into the end of the disposable plastic pen where the point was.

Insert the building block tube into the end of the disposable plastic pen where the point was.

Wedge the building block tube into the end using the flat-edged screwdriver.

Aim your air pressure blow dart gun at a far wall. Blow into the back of the disposable plastic pen to build up the air pressure.

Continue blowing until the building block tube is forced out of the end of the disposable plastic pen and the dart made from the needle and wadded up paper flies out.
