Remixing songs for dancing is fun.

A dance remix CD is composed of songs that have had new elements added changing the tempo, harmony and style to create an upbeat rhythm suitable for dancing. Doing a remix is not a hard process once you get accustomed to using your audio editing suite of choice, and songs that are remixed into a dancing beat can be a great and original way to liven up a party.

Instructions

    • 1

Think of the songs you want to remix for the dance remix CD. Even though you will be altering the songs, consider keeping a similar genre to give flow to the compilation of songs. You may choose all songs from the 1980s, the 1950s or you may want to have songs come together depending of the types of instruments played. Whatever you choose, make sure you can fit all of your song selections in the length of one CD, which is typically 78 minutes.

    • 2

Create a backing track for your original vocals using an audio mixing program, such as Garage Band or Logic Studio. Consequently create a chord structure where the vocals will fit harmoniously. Your chord structure may involve the same song being altered, a new set of rhythm that you created electronically, live music or a combination of any of these elements.

    • 3

Add any musical details and audio accents that you consider appropriate to the songs. For a dance remix it is a good idea to include upbeat rhythms and drumming.

    • 4

Replay each song to ensure there are no timing errors or clippings that are audible and make any adjustments that are necessary.

    • 5

Insert a blank CD onto your CD burner and add the songlist you have remixed. Click the burn button and wait for the system to record the songs.

    • 6

Take the CD our of the burner and put it in a case that you have labeled and that shows a list of the songs included.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make a case for your CD that reflects the dance remix you made.

  • Make sure you are not violating any copyrights by remixing any songs, especially if you intend to sell your dance remix CD.
