How to Make Emoticons for Gmail Chat thumbnail
Gmail Chat features many emoticons that can be used in instant messages.

Gmail Chat is an instant messaging service offered through Google's Gmail email account. By using this feature, you can talk to other Gmail users in real time through the use of text-based messages. Emoticons, commonly referred to as "smileys," are symbols that can enhance instant messages and provide a laugh for friends you are chatting with.

Instructions

    • 1

      Open a Gmail Chat window by logging into your Gmail inbox and clicking a contact that is currently logged in to their Gmail account.

      Click on the smiley icon at the bottom of the chat window, and click on one of the faces to have that face appear in the chat window. You can also use keyboard commands to input smiley faces. There are even hidden smiley icons that can only be used through use of keyboard shortcuts. See the Resources section below for a full list of Gmail Chat emoticon keyboard shortcuts.

      Type a message to go along with your emoticon, and click the "Send" button in the Gmail Chat window.
