How to Draw a Cat in Corel Paint

Corel Painter is a user-friendly painting program with a wide range of drawing tools. You can easily draw a cat using the shape tools and the freehand drawing tools, even if you are a beginning artist. When you're done, you can use the painting tools or the Flood Fill tool to add color to your cat.

Instructions

1. Click on the "shapes" tool on the toolbar that is on the left side of the screen. This tool is marked with a square shaped icon. When you click on the tool, you will be given a list of shapes to choose from. Click on the "elliptical" tool.

2. Click your mouse on the area where you want the cat's head, hold down the left mouse button and drag the pointer across the work area until you get the head shape you want and let go of the mouse button.

3. Repeat the last step to create a body for your cat. Drag the elliptical tool so that it makes an oval shape instead of a circle. To do this, simply drag your mouse in a horizontal line while creating the ellipse.

4. Go back to the shapes tool and select the "straight line" icon. This will enable you to make perfectly straight lines.

5. Click on the left side of the head using the left mouse button and drag the mouse upward to create one side of an ear. Next to this line, create another that is angled so that the two lines touch for a triangular shape. Repeat this step to create the other ear on the right side of the head.

6. Select the freehand drawing tool by clicking on the "pen" icon.

7. Draw a long tube-shape for the tail on the bottom of the cat for a tail.

8. Draw a C-shape on the back hip of the cat for the top of the leg. At the bottom of the C-shape, continue the line down and then around into another C-shape for the foot. At the top of the foot, continue the line up to the bottom of the body.

9. Draw the other legs by drawing tube-shapes with C-shapes for feet.

10. Draw the face by making two dots for eyes and a triangle for the nose. Draw a line down from the triangle and a U-shape for the mouth.

Tips & Warnings

• Add fur by selecting the paint brush option and choosing the "grainy calligraphy" option or the "soft flat oil." These two painting styles will create a nice texture for fur.
