How to Convert Slides to CD or DVD

How to Convert Slides to CD or DVD thumbnail
These slides fit perfectly into the slide adapter that comes with most film scanners

Now that just about everyone uses digital cameras and can display slideshows on their television sets, all of those old slides are probably sitting in a box gathering dust. Many former slide enthusiasts don't even have slide projectors anymore. A great way to keep these memories alive is to convert them to digital format with the use of a slide scanner and then burn them to a CD or DVD. Slide scanners can be found at many electronics stores as well as online and are easy to use.

Instructions

    • 1

Install the scanner software and drivers. This will probably be on a CD that came with the scanner, but can usually be found on the company's website as well.

    • 2

Place the slides onto the slide adapter. They should fit into place snugly and you can typically scan up to four slides at a time, depending on the scanner.

    • 3

Place the slide adapter onto--or into for side-loading scanners--the scanner and close the lid.

    • 4

Scan the slides using the supplied software. Make note of the destination folder.

    • 5

Create a data or image CD or DVD using a program of your choice and add all of the scanned images. Click burn disc and your CD or DVD will be created.
