How to Clean a Bathroom Mat
There are a few things that need to be considered when cleaning a bath mat, primarily what material the mat is made of and how the mat is used. Whether it is a bathroom mat that prevents slipping inside or outside the tub or if it is purely decorative makes a difference in the cleaning process. Cleaning Plastic or Rubber Bath Mats

Check the care instructions on your bath mat before attempting to clean it. If the instructions are still present, follow them before using any alternate methods.

Take plastic or rubber mats that are used to prevent slipping in the shower or tub outside to hose them down. Attach a spray nozzle to your garden hose so you can pressure-wash the back of the mat.

Put a few drops of dish soap on the back of the plastic or rubber bath mat and use the hose to spray it off. Dish soap is designed to cut through grease and dirt, so it should help remove any buildup around the suction cups of the mat.

Hang your your plastic or rubber mat to dry in a well-ventilated area.

Take bath mats that have a fabric front and rubber back outside and shake them out. This will help get rid of dirt and debris that is embedded in the fibers.

Place the mat in the washer with some old towels to help it stay submerged in the washer water. Wash the mat with detergent in cold water.

Hang the mat to dry in a well-ventilated area.
