How to Make a Necktie Wallet
Old neckties make great raw material for small sewing and craft projects. One such project is a necktie wallet. Wallets may seem complicated to make, but sewing a necktie wallet is actually an easy task. With common sewing supplies and basic sewing skills, anybody can turn an old necktie into a trendy new wallet in no time. Necktie wallets are not only a fun craft, but also a great gift for men and women alike.

Cut off a piece of the tie (from the thicker end) that is 4 inches wide and 8 inches long. Fold over the two shorter edges 1/4 inch and iron the folds in place.

Fold over the shorter edges 1/4 inch more and sew the folds in place. Lay the fabric right side facing down and fold over one of the short edges three inches.

Sew up the sides parallel to the fold, creating a pocket. Turn the wallet right side out.

Fold the remaining two-inch flap of the fabric over the pocket and iron the fold in place. Sew one end of a metal clasp to the inside of the two-inch-long flap.

Sew the other end of the metal clasp to the top outside edge of the pocket.

Tips & Warnings
To add more visual interest to the wallet, leave the pointed end on the tie and use it as the two-inch-long wallet flap.
