Homemade bows are fun to make and add beauty to your package.

Christmas gifts look so much better when they have a homemade bow attached to them. This type of bow gives the package personality and charm. There are hundreds of different style ribbons in many fabrics, such as sparkly, satin, velvet or holiday prints. Making your own Christmas bows will add a touch of pizazz to the Christmas presents you give to others this year. You can even start weeks in advance constructing your holiday bows and store them until it is time for gift giving.

Instructions

    • 1

Form a 9-inch loop with the ribbon of your choice; this will equal the diameter of your bow, according to the Offray website.

    • 2

Wrap the rest of the ribbon around the loop or until you have as many layers as you want to create your bow.

    • 3

Press the loops flat and cut the ends so that it forms a triangle shape. This will form the section to wrap the wire around. Take care not to cut too close to the center, as this will ruin the bow.

    • 4

Bend the loop so that the cut out portions are now in the center where you can tie the wire to form your bow.

    • 5

Tie a small section of the florist wire to the center to secure the bow. Pull each loop out, twisting toward the center in order to form a pom-pom bow. You can now attach the bow to your package with double-sided or a loop of tape.
