Instructions

    • 1

Drill a ½-inch hole into the glass block toward the bottom of the box. Use a ½-inch diamond or carbide tipped drill bit designed especially to cut through glass. As you drill the hole, place very little pressure onto the glass and allow the drill bit to do the work it was designed to do. Use a medicine dropper and add drops of water where you are drilling to keep the drilling area wet; this keeps the drill bit and the glass cool.

    • 2

Thread white Christmas lights into the glass box. Use a 25- to 50-light string of miniature white-stranded Christmas lights and push them though the opening you drilled in Step 1. Place a rubber grommet around the hole you threaded the lights through to avoid damaging the electrical cord of the lights.

    • 3

Wrap the glass box with decorative fabric ribbon both horizontally and vertically as if you were tying a ribbon around a gift. Use craft glue under the ribbon to hold it into place.

    • 4

Tie your favorite type of bow using the same ribbon you wrapped the glass box with. Attach your bow to the ribbon on the glass box where is crosses in the middle with string, thread or craft wire.

Tips & Warnings

  • Wear your safety goggles as you drill through the glass block to protect your eyes from glass dust.
