1
Send out Halloween party invitations. It's important to be quite clear that the party is for both adults and kids. Otherwise, parents may try to drop off their kids at your home or adults may show up in costumes that are inappropriate for younger crowds.
-
2
Stick with favorite foods with a Halloween twist. Avoid fancy foods, which kids may not like. But that doesn't mean you have to serve mac and cheese. For example, you can serve deviled eggs or make sugar cookies into a witch's finger with an almond finger nail. Serve a witch's brew punch for the kids and a Bloody Mary punch for the adults.

Plan some games for kids and adults. One idea is to pit the kids and adults against each other in a game like Pictionary or Jeopardy, with the kids having easier questions and choices. Alternatively, play a game where families compete against each other, such as the Mummy Wrap game, where kids must wrap a parent in toilet paper to look like a mummy.
-
4
Set up separate kid and adult areas. You needn't require kids and adults to mix the whole time. Instead, create separate spaces where the kids can play or adults can socialize.
-
5
Challenge families to a costume competition. Encourage families to dress up in matching costumes. For example, they may come as a family of witches or as The Incredibles.
