How to Download Windows XP SP2 Faster
Service Packs for Windows XP are traditionally downloaded through the Windows Update service, as this is the method recommended by Microsoft. Unfortunately, using Windows Update for Service Packs such as Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) can be time-consuming. It is possible, however, to download SP2 and other Windows XP Service Packs at a faster rate using a download manager. The download manager can make multiple connections to the Microsoft download server, downloading multiple parts of SP2 at once and then reassembling them into the Service Pack 2 installer once the download is complete.

Check your download manager's settings to make sure that it is set to automatically download files that end in the ".exe" extension. The file extension settings should be located in the "Options" or "Preferences" settings as well.

Tips & Warnings
Adjust the number of simultaneous connections in your download manager to change the number of parts that the SP2 installer is downloaded in. Keep in mind that using too high of a number can result in a slower download because of bandwidth restrictions from your Internet connection.
