Clean a Playstation 2 Slim

The PlayStation 2 Slim is a thin, streamlined version of Sony's earlier PlayStation 2 computer entertainment hardware. The device boasts a smaller footprint, quieter fan for improved DVD playback, and updated internal software. If your PlayStation 2 Slim is the worse for wear after several years of use, a quick clean will ensure that the console continues to play games and DVDs optimally as well as being more enjoyable to use.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug all cables and wires from your PlayStation 2 Slim.

    • 2

Use a low-powered vacuum or clean toothbrush to clean out the small ventilation ports on the front, back and sides of the console so that no lint or dust blocks the fans' operation.

    • 3

Fill a spritzer bottle with warm water. Do not use soap. Use the bottle to dampen a clean, dry cloth.

    • 4

Wipe down the exterior surfaces of your PlayStation 2 Slim.

    • 5

Open the console's disc door and use a cotton swab doused in rubbing alcohol to gently clean the DVD lens. If you prefer, you may wish to reconnect the system's cables and run a DVD lens cleaning disc.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not use a CD lens cleaning disc for cleaning the lens of your PlayStation 2 Slim. The brush on the disc is too harsh for cleaning a DVD lens and may damage instead of cleaning it.
