How to Open a PDF File in Flash

Adobe PDF files are static pages while Adobe Flash files are a series of dynamic pages that make up a mini-movie for online viewing. Both files are easily viewed online as long as you have the Adobe Reader or Adobe Flash player programs installed on your system. If you have a PDF file with multiple pages, you may have an easier time reading it as a Flash file—then you can flip through the pages in your Web browser. You can open a PDF file in Flash once you convert the file to a Flash-compatible format.

Instructions

    • 1

Convert the PDF files to Flash format using Issuu, a free online document conversion program. Simply click "Upload Document" on the Issuu website (see "Resources" for direct link) and add your PDF file to convert it to a Flash document. The tool will send your converted Flash file to you via email--you can view it in your Flash-compatible browser at any time using the link provided.

Use Scribd as another free alternative for converting a PDF document to Flash for viewing. Scribd is an online document service that takes your PDF file and changes it for compatibility with Flash player. Click "Upload" at the top of the website (see "Resources" for the direct link), add your PDF, and upload the file. Your PDF will now display as a Flash document on the Scribd website for viewing.

Use a Flash page flip software program (see "Resources" for an example) to change your PDF file to a Flash file. These are online or offline software programs that you can purchase to create Flash files from PDF documents on the fly. Add the PDF file as a new project and the software will deliver to you an HTML file that you can upload online or view in your own personal browser.
