How to Change the Headlight Bulbs on a Mazda 6

Change your headlight bulbs when they burn out to maintain visibility.

When a headlight burns out on your Mazda 6, you should change the bulb quickly. A burnt-out headlight reduces your visibility and you are more likely to experience an accident. You can change the headlight bulbs in your car easily at home. Buy an H1 Halogen bulb to replace the headlight in your Mazda 6.

Things You'll Need

• Socket and ratchet set

Instructions

1. Raise the hood of your car. Remove the mounting bolts from the coolant reservoir with a socket and ratchet. Remove the coolant reservoir.

2. Press down on the retaining tab and pull the electrical connector apart to disconnect the wiring harness from the bulb.

3. Turn the bulb socket counter-clockwise and pull it straight back out of the headlight assembly. Pull the bulb straight out of the socket.

4. Push the new bulb into the socket and insert the socket into the headlight assembly. Turn the socket clockwise to secure it.

5. Press the electrical connection into place until it clicks. Reposition the coolant reservoir and secure it with the mounting bolts. Tighten the bolts with a socket and ratchet. Close the hood and test the light.
