The Dell Dimension 3000 is a desktop computer that has upgradable hardware, including memory that can be replaced and upgraded to improve the speed of the machine. If you want to install memory in the computer, you can do so without tools, so long as you have the memory modules.

      Turn off the computer and unplug it from the wall outlet. Remove all cables and accessories from the computer.

      Lay the computer on its side and press the buttons at the top and bottom of the case to lift off the side, revealing the interior.

      Locate the memory modules that are installed. These are a pair of thin, long chips. They will be seated in dual memory module slots and jut up from the motherboard 2 to 3 inches.

      Press down on the securing clips that hold the memory modules in place to remove them. Place your new memory modules into the memory slots and press down on the modules until the securing clips snap into place.

      Close the side of the computer case, turn it right-side up, plug it in and turn it on. It is now ready for use.
