The initials LPN stand for licensed practical nurse. LPN's are medical professionals who help care for patients. In order to become an LPN you must complete a period of post-secondary academic training. Such training can take between nine and eighteen months. If you want to complete your training as quickly as possible there are several steps you can take to make this happen.

      Take advanced placement classes in the sciences while still in high school. Advanced placement classes are a way of gaining college credits before you graduate. Consider classes in subjects that are important to your nursing training such as chemistry and biology. You may be allowed to skip such classes altogether if you have credit from high school.

      Have all financial matters lined up in advance. If you want to get through an LPN program as quickly as possible you should make sure that your finances are properly set up. Apply for financial aid if necessary well in advance.       Attend full time. Full time attendance allows you to focus closely on your studies each term. You can take a full course load. If you truly want to complete your studies as quickly as possible, look for a certificate program that will let you study during the summer. Summer classes are cover large amounts of material in a short time frame so be prepared to absorb a great deal of material during this time frame.
