While bag luggage may damage your things, good luggage is something that can be there for you for years to come. So give yourself one less thing to worry about when traveling and buy good luggage.

Look for luggage in a store first. Large retail stores like Macy's and JCPenney have large selections of good luggage. Even if you plan to buy your luggage online, there are certain things that you're going to want to be sure of, such as the ease of transporting it or working zippers, before you make such an important purchase. If you do buy luggage online without seeing it first, make sure it can be returned if it is not satisfactory.

While some warranties come just with buying the luggage, such as Samsonite's 10-year warranty, other warranties need to be purchased through the store. Make sure your warranty falls into the five- to 10-year range. For example, if your next vacation isn't for another two or three months, a one-month warranty isn't going to do much good.
