Make beaded snake charms.

Many people love animals of all kinds, from household pets to more exotic animals like snakes. Though snakes can be pets, most people prefer to admire them from afar, enjoying their representations in jewelry and clothing. Those that love snake charms may also enjoy making their own beaded snake accessories. The simplest designs involve using pony beads, which are round beads about 3/8 of an inch long, with big center holes made of either glass or plastic. These beads are the easiest to string, but you may also use smaller glass beads or seed beads as long as they are round and uniform in shape.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut a length of cord about four times as long as you want your snake to be. For instance, if you want a snake charm to be six inches long, cut a length of cord about 24 inches long.

    • 2

Slide a green bead onto the center of the cord. This forms the point of the snake's nose. Slide two more green beads onto the left side of the cord. Bend the cord so the two beads lay parallel to the single bead with the single bead centered against the two beads. Slip the right side of the cord into the two beads to secure them.

    • 3

Slip a black bead, a green bead, and another black bead onto the left side of the cord (formerly the right side, now the left). Bend the cord so the three beads are parallel to the two beads. Slide the right side of the cord through the three beads and pull it tight. The black beads represent eyes.

    • 4

String four beads onto the left side of the cord; use one green bead, two colored beads, and one green bead. Lay the four beads parallel to the three beads and slip the right side of the cord through the four beads to secure them. The colored beads represent a color pattern on your snake; red and yellow work well.

    • 5

Repeat Step 3, using a green, colored, and green bead, then Step 2 with a green and colored bead to complete the snake's head. Repeat Step 2 eight to ten times to complete the body of your snake. Repeat Step 1 three times with green or colored beads to create the tail. Tie the cord in two double knots to finish.
