How to Find Vacation Cabins in Tennessee
In an era of high-speed Internet search engines and the highly competitive business of tourism, finding a vacation cabin in Tennessee -- or anywhere else, for that matter -- has never been easier. That said, there are several key points you should consider in choosing a vacation cabin that's right for you, the most important of which is location.

1
Type "vacation cabins in Tennessee" into a search engine. As you scroll through the list of related sites, with numerous options available, try to gravitate toward a particular area of Tennessee that you like. While Gatlinburg offers ice skating, snow skiing, golf, white water rafting and over 600 miles of hiking through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, it is also one of the more frequented tourist destinations and can be crowded during the high season. Pigeon Forge, however, located just 15 minutes north of Gatlinburg by car, offers many of the same activities in a less-populated area, while still providing close proximity to the many shops and dining establishments of Gatlinburg. In addition to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, there is Townsend, Chattanooga, Memphis, Knoxville and the surrounding areas of Nashville. Cabins are everywhere in Tennessee. For this reason, it is best to research several areas, and book your cabin according to the area best suited to your interests.

Decide how large a cabin you want, in addition to any amenities you need or desire. Cabins of all shapes and sizes are available in Tennessee, from one-room studio-cabins with outdoor plumbing, to expansive luxury cabins with hot tubs, pools, fully equipped kitchens and loft bedrooms. Since the size and amenities of your cabin largely depend on the people in your party, consult each person individually and take any particular needs or desires into account.

See the cabin before you book it, if at all possible. While the Internet is great for preliminary research, there is still no substitute for the naked eye. Try the faucets, flush the toilet and check the water pressure. Turn on the lights and appliances. Sit on the bed, open the cupboards, climb the stairs and take in the view. Physically occupying a space is the best way to evaluate its potential. And don't go alone; take one or more of your traveling party with you. Four eyes are better than two, just as two heads are better than one.
