How to Copy Music From a CD to an MP3 Format

There are several ways to copy music from a CD to an MP3 format.

Copying music from a CD to MP3 format is a great way to digitize your music collection. It will also save you space when storing the music on your computer, as a MP3 audio file takes up approximately one-tenth the space of a normal CD audio file.

Things You'll Need

• iTunes
• Switch
• dBpoweramp
• CD

Instructions

Using iTunes

1. Open iTunes. Click "iTunes" and "Preferences" on a Mac, or click "Edit" and "Preferences" on a PC.

2. Select "Import Settings." Choose "MP3 Encoder" in the "Import Using" drop-down menu.

3. Click "OK" and then click "OK" again to exit iTunes preferences.

4. Insert a music CD into your computer. When iTunes asks you if you'd like to import the CD into your library, click "Yes." Once the CD has finished importing, you will have successfully copied music from a CD to the MP3 format.

Using Switch

1. Insert a music CD into your computer.

2. Open Switch. Click "Add Files" and browse to select the music files from the CD.

3. Select the ".mp3" format from the "Output Format" menu.

4. Click the "Browse" button next to "Output Folder" and select where you would like to save the MP3 files.

5. Click "Convert" and the music from the CD will be copied to the MP3 format.

Using dBpoweramp

1. Insert a music CD into your computer.

2. Open dBpoweramp. Click "Browse" and select the music files from the CD.

3. Click "Open." Select "MP3" from the "Converting To" menu.

4. Click the "Output Location Folder" and select where you would like to save the MP3 files.

5. Click "Convert" and the music from the CD will be copied to the MP3 format.
