How to Access Your Personal PC From Anywhere

The Remote Desktop feature in your Windows-based computer will allow you to access your PC's files and folders from anywhere that has an Internet connection, enabling you to troubleshoot your computer and view your data while far from home. Configuring your computer to utilize this feature requires nothing more than a few basic steps, after which time you will be able to connect to the computer at your whim.

Instructions

1. Right click on "My Computer" and select "Properties."

2. Click on "Advanced System Settings" and select "Remote."

3. Click "Allow remote connections to this computer."

4. Click on the page linked below to obtain the IP address of your computer.

5. Open "Start" on another computer and type "Remote Desktop Connection" into the "Search" box.

6. Press "Enter," enter in the IP address of your computer, and press "Connect" to access your computer.
