Begin by picking a theme: Enhance the spa party concept with a theme that coordinates the decorations and music selections. This can reinforce the idea of "getting away." An Asian theme, for example, will lend to a relaxing day with exotic surroundings. Start with an electronic invitation from a company like evite.com. Transform your home by decorating with paper lanterns, fans and kimono robes. Simply buying some bamboo plants will add life to the room and will make excellent party favors for your guests, especially since this plant is believed to bring luck. Or consider a California beach spa theme. Or a Mexican or Hawaiian theme. Brainstorm and look round your home to seek inspiration for a theme.

Set the mood by creating a relaxing atmosphere. Group and scatter candles about to add to your spa décor. Consider placing some on mirrors or nested in clear marbles. Ensure that the scents are not overpowering or conflicting. Have plenty of fluffy towels readily available. Play some relaxing, instrumental music. Stock your refrigerator with plenty of cold water perhaps infused with orange, lemon or cucumber. Encourage your guests to bring their most comfortable robes and slippers.

Gather or make spa treatments. You can easily find spa treatments for the face, skin, nails and hair in drug and department stores. Retailers, such as Lush, mix extremely fresh spa cocktails with little to no preservatives. However, the freshest may prove to be the most beneficial and a fun group activity. With a little extra time, you can easily make homemade spa treatments. Use on-line recipes or check out books such as Delta Burke's, "Delta Style: Eve Wasn't a Size 6 and Neither Am I."

Create your food menu; it can be as simple or as fanciful as you desire. Whichever you choose, you are sure to please if you focus on healthy and memorable food. An inexpensive Brie baked until its starts to ooze will be impressive spread on slices of French bread topped with slices of dried fig or pear. Provide grapes and cubes of other cheeses and you have an impressive, yet easy-to-prepare, spread. For an extra indulgence, provide strawberries and some dark chocolate dip, perhaps in a fondue pot. Besides being a delicious, decadent dessert, the chocolate is heart healthy.

Provide party favors to your guests so they leave with a little joy for later. Spa kits or glass containers with your spa recipes extras will make excellent favors as well as favorite recipes written on gorgeous cards. Bottles of essential oils, decadent hand lotions, mini nail polishes, soap and washcloth bundles and handmade sachets will all make excellent favors or prizes for party games.
