By default, web browsers track information about each page you visit online. In addition to storing the title of the page, browsers store data about the time and date you last accessed the page, allowing you or anyone else to view and sort your comprehensive browsing history with ease. Thankfully, all modern browsers---Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari, Opera---make removing your web surfing history just as quick.

Instructions

  1. Remove History from Firefox

    • 1

      Click "Tools" in the top menu bar and select "Clear Recent History."

      Select the time range of data you want to delete from the drop-down menu (for example, "Last Four Hours," "Everything").

      Check the boxes next to the "Browsing & Download History" and "Form & Search History" items.

      Click "Clear Now."

    Remove History from Internet Explorer

      Click the "Safety" menu item, found near the top-right corner of the browser window, and select "Delete Browsing History."

      Check the box next to "History."

    • 7

      Click "Delete."

    Remove History from Chrome

    • 8

      Click the "Tools" menu and select "Options."

      Select the "Under the Hood" tab.

      Click "Clear Browsing Data."

      Check the "Clear Browsing History" box and select the period of time for which you want your history deleted (for example, "Last Week," "Everything").

      Click "Clear Browsing Data."

    Remove History from Safari

      Click "Edit" in the top menu bar and select "Reset Safari."

      Check the "Clear History," "Clear the Downloads Window" and "Clear Recent Web Searches" boxes.

      Click "Reset."

    Remove History from Opera

      Click "Tools" in the top menu bar and select "Delete Private Data."

      Click the down arrow to expand the list of options.

    • 18

      Check the "Clear History of Visited Pages," "Clear History of File Transfers" and "Clear Bookmark Visited Time" boxes.

      Click "Delete."
