How to Remove a Limewire Launcher Error

Fixing the LimeWire launcher error in your computer.

Peer-to-peer programs lets share files, programs, music and other data via personal networks. Errors associated with LimeWire may occur when you try to uninstall the software. This error is called the "LimeWire Launcher Error." This error is because the program not being fully uninstalled from your computer system. To fix this error, you must ensure that LimeWire is removed.

• Microsoft Registry Editor

Instructions

1. Click on "Start" located on your lower-left corner of your desktop. Click on the "Run" icon and type "regedit" into the "Run" box. Click "OK" or press the "Enter" key on your keyboard.

2. Select and remove these LimeWire entries: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\Run HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServicesOnce HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\Run HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServicesOnce

3. Close out the Microsoft Registry Editor by clicking on "X."

4. Click the "Start" button and select "Search." The "Search Results" dialog prompt will appear. Click "All Files and Folders" in the "What do You Want to Search For?" category.

   Type "LimeWire" into the text fields then click the "Search" button. Remove all LimeWire folders and entries that appear.

5. Click "Start" and "Run," again. Type "Win.ini" into the "Run" dialog box and click on the "OK" button. Remove all LimeWire entries that show up. Accept to save the changes after closing out the dialog.

6. Click on "Start" then the "Run" icon. Type "system.ini" into the "Run" box and click "OK." Delete all LimeWire entries. Accept and save changes when prompted after closing out the box.

7. Reboot your computer system to finalize the launcher error repair.
