How to Troubleshoot a Jazz Camcorder

How to Troubleshoot a Jazz Camcorder thumbnail
Use an SD memory card with your Jazz camera.

The Jazz line of video camcorders are small, inexpensive cameras that record footage onto a small SD memory card. The quality in the camera is low and may video cameras actually cost less then $30 (as of April 2010). Even though the device is rather simplistic in design you can run into some minor issues with the Jazz camcorder, either in the recording or audio playback modes.

Instructions

    • 1

Replace the current AA batteries on the camera. Because the device does have a small LCD screen you can quickly zap the juice on the battery.

    • 2

Insert a new SD memory card into the camera if the device is not recording any additional video. This is because your current SD memory card is full. You can find SD memory cards at most electronic stores.

    • 3

Watch where you hold the camera. If you hear extreme rustling noise when playing back the video it is because your fingers cover up the small microphone in the device. The microphone is represented by a few holes underneath the lens. When you cover this up you are distorting the recording.

Avoid using the zoom feature. Because the camera is so small there is no actual "optical" zoom. This means the lens does not move. Instead you are forced to use a digital zoom, which actually just zooms into the pixels of the camera. Because the quality is already extremely low, zooming in makes your image look grainy and distorted.
