How to Sell Autos on eBay
If you're having trouble selling your old car in your community, turn to the Internet for help. According to Entrepreneur, eBay's auto component, eBay Motors, was the Nielsen-rated top automotive website in 2006. EBay Motors gets the traffic you need to sell your car, but to succeed you've got to create a good listing. With a little research, a good sales strategy and quality photographs of your old car, you can sell your auto on eBay.
Instructions

-
1
Look up your car's value using Kelley Blue Book (see Resources). Enter in your car's make and model, condition, and mileage count to see its appraised value, which you can use as a starting guide to price your car.
-
2
Choose whether you want to sell your vehicle "best offer," "set price," "no reserve" or "reserve" listing.
A "reserve" listing lets you set a minimum acceptable price, ensuring you'll get a certain value for your auto. "No reserve" and "best offer" listings mean that you'll get the highest price someone's willing to pay, and "buy now" means that you set a price at the outset. "No reserve" and "best offer" listings work for older cars or autos you need to sell in a hurry, while "reserve" listings work well for valuable cars, according to eBay Motors.

3
Search eBay Motors for similar listings. You can view current and past auctions on similar autos. Use the information you find while searching plus the Kelley Blue Book value to determine a reserve or set price. If you're selling via no reserve, skip this step.
-
4
Photograph your car in good light. Take interior and exterior pictures, and shoot from all angles. Buyers will want to see as many images as possible to get an accurate idea of your auto's true condition.
-
5
Create an eBay account if you don't have one (see Resources). Locate your car's title, which you'll need to sell it to the buyer.
-
6
Post your car on eBay Motors. Upload the images to your listing. Choose your payment method, such as PayPal, personal check or credit card. Describe your vehicle, listing any amenities (such as leather seats or a sun roof), any liabilities (such as peeling paint) and the vehicle history. EBay Motors provides sample listing copy if you're having trouble describing your car (see Resources).
EBay Motors recommends providing your phone number and email so prospective buyers can discuss the car's condition with you directly.

Watch offers come in. You can check the status of your auction by signing into your eBay account. Respond to any email or phone message you receive about the car. When your auction ends, eBay will notify the winning buyer, and you'll also be notified of the final sales price.
-
8
Wait for the seller to send payment and contact you about obtaining the vehicle. Arrange a time to meet the seller in person to exchange the title and hand over the auto. If the seller prefers you ship the vehicle, discuss this after you've received payment.
