How to Increase Cache Size in Internet Explorer 7

Your Internet Explorer (IE) cache contains files your web browser stores on your computer so you can launch web pages more quickly. This feature is especially beneficial for slow Internet connection methods such as dial-up. Internet Explorer 7 by default sets a limit on the amount of cache you can store on your computer; however, you can increase the cache size if it fills up too fast on your computer because of the websites you visit frequently.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the "Tools" menu at the top of Internet Explorer 7, scroll down the pop-up menu, then click "Internet Options" to launch the options console.

    • 2

Click the "Tools" button in the "General" tab, then select the amount of disk space you want to use for IE cache in the "Disk Space to Use" section. You can choose space between 8 MB and1024 MB; however, Microsoft recommends selecting between 50 MB and 250 MB of cache disk space.

    • 3

Click "OK" to save the changes, then close the options console. Your computer is now able to store more IE cache.
