Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the water at the supply main if you are installing a new dual supply valve, or you could wind up with a kitchen full of water. A dual supply valve located underneath your kitchen sink is the optimal water hookup for your Maytag. In this setup, one side of the supply valve will provide hot water for the sink, while the other will provide the dishwasher with a hot water supply. Once the valve is installed, wrap the end in plumber's tape and connect the dishwasher supply hose. Tighten the coupling hand-tight, then an additional turn with a wrench.

    • 2

Move your dishwasher so that it is adjacent to the area where you want to install it. Remove all packing materials and shipping screws.

    • 3

Attach the drain hose to the back of the dishwasher to begin connecting the sewer hookup. Secure with a hose clamp. Connect the other end to either the sink or disposal, depending on your installation. Use a pipe clamp to elevate the middle of the drain hose so that it is higher than both the dishwasher outlet and sink trap inlet.

    • 4

Remove the front bottom panel on the Maytag.

    • 5

Move the dishwasher to its final location.

    • 6

Wrap the threads on the included elbow joint in plumber's tape to begin hooking up the water supply to the dishwasher. Screw this into the water inlet on the front of the dishwasher. Connect the end of the water supply hose.

    • 7

Connect the electrical wires to the terminal ends on the dishwasher to connect the electricity to the dishwasher. Secure with wire nuts and electrical tape.

    • 8

Use the torpedo level to check that the dishwasher is level. Adjust the Maytag's legs, if needed.

    • 9

Restore the water and power to the dishwasher to run a test cycle. Close the front door and secure the latch. Run the dishwasher empty. Watch the supply and drain lines for leaks as it goes through the cycle. Tighten any clamps or couplings if needed.

    • 10

Secure the Maytag in place with the included installation brackets.

Tips & Warnings

  • Some municipalities require a device called an air gap be installed in line with the drain hose. Consult your local ordinances before installation.

  • The above steps are just a guideline. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions.

  • If in doubt about any of the steps above, consult a professional.
