A screensaver is a utility built-in to your computer that prevents the display on your computer from burning out. Typical screensavers display moving objects or images. In the Windows operating system, you can create your own personal screensaver by displaying photos or other image files that are stored on your computer.

      Turn on your computer and create a new folder on your desktop or any other convenient location. To create a folder, right-click the desktop and select "New Folder." Name the folder something memorable like "Screensaver."

      Find any photos or other digital image files you want to include in your personal screensaver. Drag the files from their original location into the folder you just created. Alternatively, you can right-click a file and select "Copy" and then right-click inside of the folder you created and select "Paste."

      Right-click on your desktop and select "Properties."

      Click the "Screen Saver" tab located at the top of the "Properties" dialog box.

      Click the drop-down menu labeled "Screen saver" and select "My Pictures Slideshow."

      Click the "Settings" button and then set the source folder to the folder you created on your desktop. To do this, click the "Browse" button and choose your folder.

      Click "OK" to save your settings and your personal screensaver will now display when you leave your computer idle.
